Like his debut LP, I:Cube's sophomore album, from 1999, is something of a grab bag of electronic styles, from nouveau G-funk ("Gastro Funk") to dubby downtempo ("Dans la Piece Vide") to sweaty, stomping house ("The Basic Bastard"). Tracks like "Tropiq" suggest the easy-listening panache of his countrymen in Air, but even at its most laid-back, Adore never succumbs to supper-club ennui; a master manipulator of samples and electronic sounds, I:Cube packs every measure full of detail as sumptuous as the gardens at Versailles.
