Playing career-oriented indie rock, Las Vegas band Imagine Dragons pull as much from new romantic-brand New Wave as from the alterna-moves of the '00s, making for slightly smart pop music with a faint smack of Dave Matthews Band, minus the jamming. That means endlessly singable verses with cool percussion and '80s levels of straight-faced melodrama. This all comes through on highlight "Demons," but don't sleep on follow-up anthem "On Top of the World."
