BiographyImmigrant Suns embarked on a minor world music excursion some years ago that put them on a path toward a major obsession with obscure village music. Once dissolute punks, the band members are now firmly ensconced in world folk traditions, drawing primarily from Eastern European and Gypsy music to create lovely, melancholy folk songs that retain an ironic rock 'n' roll edge. The band is not unlike a musical pack rat, collecting vivid tunes from around the world and patching them together in a sort of Indie Rock and world pastiche. Wickedly proficient musicians, Immigrant Suns are slowly making a nationwide name for themselves with their tightly constructed songs and impressively energetic live performances.
