Commercial alternative radio rock hopefuls from San Francisco drop a debut that's good enough to warrant overnight accolades and fathoms of gear endorsements. Comprising members of the Pattern and Petrol, Immigrant have perfected the Walkmen's approximations of early U2 recordings (doubled vocals howling over Edgy guitar leads) with a dash of Radiohead's moodiness in the melodies. Sultry singer Graham Shaw's vocal gymnastics and dynamic range channel Freddy Mercury at times, while leaving breadcrumbs that lead back to an influential record collection peppered with old pub rock and '90s Brit pop.
