Jackie Paris

Jazz singer Jackie Paris never enjoyed the kind of fame you might expect of a man who worked with Charles Mingus, Charlie Parker and Lionel Hampton, to name a few. He recorded sporadically over the course of his career, and his often fine recordings seem destined to remain cult favorites rather than classics of the genre. Nonetheless, he was a strong singer who was well-loved at the time and retains a fanbase to this day. He died at the age of 79 in 2004.
