Some Kind Of Trouble
by James Blunt
Released: Oct 2010
On his third album, James Blunt brightens the mood and brings up the energy level while still retaining his "sensitive guy with an acoustic guitar" aura. Blunt's secret weapon is his complete absorption of folky '70s soft rockers: Single "Stay the Night" recalls buoyant Cat Stevens hand-clappers; "Dangerous" plays like Al Stewart hanging out in a U.K. nightclub; and "Best Laid Plans" has the grandiose tragedy of pre-disco Bee Gees. Blunt's not doing anything revolutionary (or even evolutionary), but his knack for song structure make these songs go down easy.
