This double album is made up of The Morning After, which captures the melancholy yearning of the Manchester band, and The Night Before, which features more of the upbeat U.K. club rock that helped propel James to 1990s Britpop renown. That said, they are still growing, and this set smartly backs away from the kind of U2-ish concert anthems that their old fans will remember. James' instincts are right; they've always been mature and melodic, and songs such as "Got the Shakes" and "Make for This City" stand up to their best work.
