Named after the Indian goddess of death and destruction, this 14th solo album from "The Living Jarboe" is a dark, frightful journey marked by atmospherics, tribal drums, spoken words and oftentimes demonic sounds. Jarboe exercises her intense vocal range through various personas, going from deep, bluesy tones on "Mouth of Flames" to soft, sweet timbres on "Transmogrification" before introducing surreal shrieks on "Bornless." Mayhem vocalist Attila Csihar appears on the Exorcist-like "The Soul Continues," and Phil Anselmo on the Southern-tinged lament "Overthrown."
