Former Nevermore guitar whiz Jeff Loomis started playing guitar at the age of 9 and left home at 16 to try out for Megadeth. He also started releasing solo material with the advent of Zero Order Phase in 2008. Plains of Oblivion is marked by prog-heavy thrash crammed with Bach-gone-metal parts, with Loomis' jaw-dropping shred taking center stage. Along with Loomis' crazy talent, "Tragedy and Harmony" answers the eternal question of what it would be like if Dennis DeYoung fronted a metal band.
