For his third studio full-length, Sunny Day Real Estate's frontman continues to write revelatory songs for the soundtrack of your life, but this time he has narrowed his sonic parameters. Built around simple singer/songwriter percussion and acoustic instrumentation with vocal melodies guiding the way ("Just a State of Mind"), there is still a decent amount of fuzzy distortions and stark, pretty atmospherics in the background ("Late of Camera"), but it's the fragility of darker tracks like "Life's Too Short" that capture Enigk at his best.
