Though still young, Jeremy Pelt has long since proved his trumpet abilities and his knowledge of different jazz forms and eras. With November, Pelt continues growing as a horn player while showcasing his talents as writer, arranger and bandleader. Pelt allows the band to spin a musical web around his compositions, and the results bring to mind Wayne Shorter and Herbie Hancock's more adventurous recordings of the mid-1960s (the brilliant Maiden Voyage in particular). It's to Pelt's credit that he and his band end up sounding new, vital and fresh.
