Label: Legacy Recordings
Valleys of Neptune, according to the guitarist's estate, inaugurates a new era in Jimi Hendrix merchandising: video games, new apparel and, most importantly, archival releases. The album's centerpiece is the now-legendary title track, an original composition recorded between 1969 and '70. It sounds half-finished and kind of tame when compared to incendiary takes on "Bleeding Heart," "Fire" and "Hear My Train A Coming." All three tracks feature screaming, apocalyptic solos that steal the show.
