This 15-track sampler doesn't capture the awesome breadth of the box set version of West Coast Seattle Boy: The Jimi Hendrix Anthology. But hey, if you're one of the five classic rock fans on the planet who doesn't bow down before Jimi, then you don't give a hoot. What is captured is a quality selection of outtakes, demos and rarities. The most revelatory in terms of historical import is an intimate, if noticeably raw, recording of Dylan's Basement Tapes standard "Tears of Rage." On the heavy, jammy side are "Hear My Freedom" and "Hound Dog Blues," recorded in 1968 and '69, respectively.
