Biography
The seeds of the Jo Boxers were sewn back in 1981, when the Bristol natives were put together as Vic Goddard's backing band, Subway Sect. Once Goddard released the album and toured in support of it, he broke up the band. The quartet stayed together, later meeting with American ex-patriot Dig Wayne, who signed on as the group's singer. A year later, the band's Blue-Eyed Soul influenced Dance Pop caused a stir in Britain, and eventually the United States, where in 1983, "Just Got Lucky" peaked at No. 36 on the Pop charts.
