Fire On The Strings
Joe Maphis
Released:
Jan 1957
Label:
Columbia/Legacy
During the mid- to late-1950s, country guitar prodigy Joe Maphis recorded these incredible instrumentals on his double necked guitar (one neck was a standard six-string, the other an electric mandolin). He picked so fast and precisely that you could very well get a seizure from trying to follow his notes. Fire on the Strings blends western swing with roadhouse honky-tonk and something that sounds like a predated version of progressive bluegrass.
