Biography

Accompanied by a pianist, Quarrington brings the double bass -- an instrument that's normally used to provide a foundation for other strings -- to the foreground. Playing the music of Romantic composer Giovanni Bottesini, a bass virtuoso himself, his gorgeous playing is filled with a searching quality, and the tremendous range of the instrument allows him to plumb emotional depths.
