Biography
Simple but intelligent country music by a man who seems uninterested in the megalomania of show business. With a warm pedal steel, mellow picking, and country-dad vocals, John Conlee's music sounds like it's pumped through the speakers of big rigs everywhere. It certainly was in the late '70s and early '80s, when the former mortician had a string of #1 country hits, such as "Common Man," "Rose Colored Glasses," and the ever romantic "Lady Lay Down."
