This rerelease of John Doe's 1998 EP, For the Rest of Us, includes several extra tracks from the original recording sessions. The punk pioneer enlisted Beck's backing band to help revitalize his sound and it worked. Tracks like "The Unhappy Song" crackle with the emotional depth that matches his lyrics and went missing from his previous twang-tinged efforts.
