Biography

Trained as a classical musician and self-raised on a steady diet of Electro and hip-hop, John Tejada found inspiration in the form of Detroit technicians Derrick May and Juan Atkins and quickly followed in their influential footsteps. Spinning out funky, dance floor-friendly rhythms, Tejada's compositions have an edgy, raw quality to them that belies their initial accessibility. Scattered and intermittently moody, it sometimes sounds as if he's only playing part of his hand, as he keeps the darkest edges close to his chest, loosening them only to provide enticing, visceral hints at an intensity infrequently achieved in dance music.
