Hartman cut this album in tribute to his onetime musical collaborator. The Post Bop backings (led by Japanese Miles Davis disciple Terumasa Hino) are actually wilder than his peerless work with Trane himself, but Hartman remains as unruffled as ever. The slowly building "My Funny Valentine" is just one highlight of this underrated session.
