Jessica Simpson and mother-daughter music fans of the world, rejoice! For in one uber-sensitive swoop, Jon McLaughlin has managed to combine the best of both Jess's long-term lovers. But equally emotive are the husky-voiced, piano-driven forays into the land of Starbucks-ready adult-alt that's ruled with a soulful fist by second Simpson paramour John Mayer. But like in real life, there's not much conflict: the two (bedroom) voices just sort of tenderly coexist on McLaughlin's debut.
