When Gracin debuted in 2004, no one thought an American Idol could cross over into country. But he did exactly that, producing three hit singles and helping to pave the way for Carrie Underwood. We Weren't Crazy continues that success, packed with radio-friendly countrified pop songs. A solid backbeat, rolling banjo and Hammond organ accent "Found," setting the tone (mid-tempo, hook-filled) for much of the album. The title track looks back at his life as a Marine and father, but it's the up-tempo barn burner "Favorite State of Mind" that stands as the album's bright spot.
