Journey's second album with Steve Perry's uncanny replacement, Filipino singer Arnel Pineda, Eclipse kicks off with "City of Hope," a stadium-busting anthem that could easily have appeared on Frontiers. Pineda may have gotten the job because he sounded so much like Perry, but here he carves out his own identity, assuming the role of Journey's new frontman -- a development that has clearly inspired Neal Schon, judging from his near constant, always smart, shredding. No longer reunited only for the festival circuit, Eclipse marks a new era for the band.
