Juan Manuel's 1998 solo LP was dedicated to his father, a bachata musician who died when Manuel was only eight. The son captures bachata's distinctive guitar sound beautifully and even indulges in a few technical flourishes ("No Quiero Verla," "Bebo Para Olvidar"). A deeply romantic album anchored by strong bass guitar and a style that privileges the song over the singer.
