Judi Bari

Judi Bari was an Earth First! activist who was the victim of a motion-detonated bomb placed under her car. And while the injuries she sustained that day didn't kill her, the experience opened her up to a highly publicized smear campaign. A year later, after the F.B.I. and Oakland Police department failed to produce evidence connecting her with the bombing -- their assertion for the better part of a year -- she sued them. Bari died of breast cancer in 1997, but the Alternative Tentacles label released an album of speeches Bari made exposing destructive corporate logging practices.
