Julie London hated performing live but you wouldn't know it from this document of her 1964 run at New York's Americana. Like Chet Baker, London never pretended to have a big voice, and the blaring big band and backup singers occasionally drown her out. But thankfully she finds more intimate settings to murmur her tales of gin-soaked seduction and hungover heartbreak.
