Released: Jan 1992
Label: FAT POSSUM
In Junior Kimbrough's hands, even the most standard blues move becomes new. Released in 1992, this debut was a revelation to the blues world and beyond. Recorded in a church by famed blues-ographer Robert Palmer, All Night Long was, and is, utterly unique in the blues idiom. The first two songs find Kimbrough alone with his guitar, at times reaching meditative states. For the rest he is joined by his son on drums and R.L. Burnside's son on bass, making gentle, oddly foreboding empty-juke-joint boogie. "You Better Run" is one of his signature tunes. "Do the Romp" is another highlight.
