Kathy Griffin

Kathy Griffin

Biography

Although Kathy Griffin initially made her name as a '90s sitcom actress on the Brooke Shields vehicle Suddenly Susan, she has since re-invented herself as a reality TV personality (Kathy Griffin: My Life On the D-List) and returned to her beginnings as a standup comedian. Her act consists of spiky observational humor and story-telling focused on her life as a "D-list" celebrity and her interactions with other celebrities that are highlighted by insider dirt-dishing. Several high profile controversies in which she made one or another inflammatory jokes and a dedication to utter candidness no matter what stage she's on (while accepting an Emmy in 2007 she said "Suck it, Jesus -- this award is my god now!") have resulted in Griffin enjoying icon status in the gay community despite the fact that she is straight. With sitcoms, movie appearances and Emmy-winning reality shows under her belt, Griffin released an album of her standup act, For Your Consideration, in 2008.
