Released: Jan 2002
Label: Black Market Records
Keak's first and last record for hard-core Sacramento label Black Market doesn't rise to the level of some of his earlier work with 3X Krazy or even to that of his other solo disc that year (Hi-Tek), but it does contain at least a handful of classic Keak jams. With its squishy synths and piano drops, "Welcome to Oakland" is perfect, sweltering mobb music menace. "Shockin' N*gg*z" comes stocked with disorienting psych guitar samples and stuttering drums and is similarly great.
