After concentrating on cover versions, Keb Mo returns to performing his own material on Suitcase. Keb Mo's not a shabby songwriter, but once again, it's his performance that really stands out. His touch is so light; the way he balances his soulful vocals and blues guitar lines is casual but never sloppy. Highlights include the buoyant "Remain Silent" and "Life is Beautiful," which would fit snuggly into the James Taylor or Jim Croce songbooks.
