Kem has a lot of fans. Intimacy became one of the country's top-selling albums for weeks despite little mainstream promotion. And the folksy yet smooth songs demonstrate why. On "Hold On," Kem delivers a mantra over a medley of acoustic guitar; for "Love Never Fails," he declares his faith in the human spirit with understated confidence. Most of the album is soothing and passionate; on "Human Touch," he asks, "Hey girl, can I kiss your toes?" For "Golden Days," Jill Scott adds a spoken-word verse that harks back to her early days as a poet.
