Kerli might seem like an unlikely pop star; she's from Estonia, she does a creepy doll-goth thing that's so Evanescence circa 2003, and did we mention she's from Estonia?! But appearances can be deceiving. Or, rather, they can be pretty spot-on. This icy blonde sings as good as she looks, and she works all varieties of the dark-dollhouse shtick like a latter-day Amy Lee: Hushed confessional with an edge ("Fragile"). Slightly funky downtempo ("Butterfly Cry"). And especially gothic circus, as on "Creepshow," where she sings "I'm from a land called Estonia / Nobody knows where it's at."
