Kevin Eubanks' 15-year run as Jay Leno's bandleader and ever-laughing monologue foil gave him important economic freedom, but it also obscured his often restless and experimental guitar gifts. 2010's Zen Food should help lift his artistic profile again. Eubanks plays in a variety of modern styles, equally comfortable with webby fusion guitar and slightly more groove-orientated post-bop, along with folky ballads and New Age material. Some numbers, such as "Offering," pack a lot into one song.
