In 1985, Killing Joke released Night Time, which contained the hits "Love Like Blood" and "Eighties," an alt-radio staple. On this follow-up, they tried to chase more chart success by pumping up the synths and upping the slick studio production. The results failed to sell and, even worse, ended up alienating the band's older fans. The production here (which is half Simple Minds and half L.A. hair metal) is a shame because the majority of the songs are well-written and deserve a different presentation. Give "Adorations" and "A Southern Sky" (a Killing Joke ballad!) another chance.
