King Diamond
Released:
Jan 1987
Label:
Roadrunner Records
Danish metal god King Diamond's constant shifting between his dog-beckoning falsetto and guttural Alice Cooper impersonation has always been the main attraction of his music. But this second album, a concept record about ghosts, haunted houses, a dead little girl and people killing each other, boasts a blueprint of black metal that the kids in Norway ultimately ran with after it appeared in 1987. "Arrival" and the title cut are still a major part of King Diamond's repertoire. As for the rest of the album, anytime he's not performing vocal acrobatics, check out the uniformly great guitar work.
