Kit Clayton

Though rooted somewhere in the hazy space between the tense fog of Ambient Dub, Chain Reaction's sparse Techno and San Francisco's jittery post-IDM, Joshua Kit Clayton's tracks veer off in their own direction. Tones and melodic fragments are gooey, sticky-sweet lumps of taffy pulled into amorphous forms. His whimsical arrangements follow their own logic, but never wander off and lose their tight grasp on the just-palpable groove that weaves through each track. While his music is often wriggling and ticklish, lush low-end pulses are ever-present. And that's where the Dub connection is made: a heavy low-end that seeps into you without Techno aggression. His irregular sounds and structures approach you on visceral and intellectual levels, too peculiar for cursory listening, too deep for the armchair.
