Kitchens of Distinction

Kitchens of Distinction

Biography

Although this ethereal-sounding power trio recorded some dreamy guitar songs with wistful backdrops of sonic textures, Kitchens of Distinction never really fit in with England's Shoegazing scene. Although the scene itself was created more by media than musicians, Kitchens didn't adhere to the demure image and androgynous, whisper-sung stylings of bands such as Slowdive, Chapterhouse, or even My Bloody Valentine. Their Dream Pop was birthed from similar guitar washes of white noise, but singer/bass player Patrick Fitzgerald wasn't afraid to do his own thing and sing his songs with a little more soul than the norm.
