A N.Y. crew from the early '90s, KMD were akin to other forward-thinking groups like Brand Nubian and De La Soul. Headed by Zev Luv X (now known as MF DOOM) and his brother Subroc, they put together an irresistible mix of funk-heavy production and playful yet wise Afro-centric lyricism.
