A West Coast sensation, Pandit was a handsome San Francisco organist who slapped on a turban and became a TV lounge lothario in the 1950s and early '60s. His piano work has aged better than his "couples night at the roller rink" organ style, but his awe-inspiring cover of "Spinning Wheel" features his mastery of both instruments simultaneously.
