The Dutch disco-funk group Kraak & Smaak have rarely sounded as on-point as they do on their fourth album. In part, that’s because contemporary trends have bent toward their particular brand of sultry grooves, but it’s also because songs like “Runnin’” are their strongest contributions to the Daft Punk and Basement Jaxx continuum yet. Romanthony and SebastiAn are among the guests contributing to a set of humid, synth-soaked, retro-modern house and disco, and remixers like Solomun and Psychemagic round out the album with touches of Italo and tech-house.
