Kronos Quartet plays Sigur Ros' shoegazing "Flugufrelsarinn," and they don't so much transform it as liberate the song completely from any rock feeling it had to begin with. That's not knocking the dreamy original -- both versions soar, but Kronos Quartet keeps a hold of the original even as they expand the tune out into space. Graying no-wavers and noise rock burnouts should also enjoy their reading of the "Star-Spangled Banner," which makes Hendrix's famed version (and most of Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music) sound polite in comparison.
