Released:
Label: RCA RECORDS LABEL
This British newcomer blends the vocal gymnastics of jazz pop with the wide-eyed breathlessness of coffee-shop indie pop. Her flights are frequently guided by Steve Brown's orchestra arrangements that are reminiscent of film soundtracks (think Shirley Bassey) and downtempo (think Bonobo and the Cinematic Orchestra). When she sings that her love is "Like the Morning Dew," she sounds bedazzled, and when she glides along the hand-clapping rhythms of "Green Garden," she radiates a joy that's almost impossible not to share.
