Lee Rocker was a founding member of The Stray Cats. He continues to slap that bass like an abusive husband. Rocker's singing naturally captures the spirit of the old-school Rock 'n' Roll without having to affect any of those tired hillbilly-inflected wallops so prevalent in today's greasy haired musicians. But like a waxy gob of pomade, Rocker's songs are very difficult to get out of your head. They're actually really catchy and well-written pop songs disguised in old tones and pastoral instrumentation. In this sense it seems as though he is staying true to the roots of Rock 'n' Roll, rather than climbing back on the Rockabilly Revival wagon that he once helped to build.
