Live At The Isle Of Wight 1970
Released: Oct 2009
This 1970 set captures Leonard Cohen experiencing his first flush of renown as a singer-songwriter. The beginning of his transition away from prose writing (there are several short poems read), it reveals songs that are beyond reproach. The real treat is dropping in on Cohen at a time when he was one weird, rambling dude. If appearances are everything, you'd guess that the cover shot of the usually sartorially resplendent Canadian looking unshaven and rumpled may have something to do with the charming, if shambling, performance.
