It just doesn't get any better than this two-disc tour of Lester Young's peerless sax style. Not only is the Pres in top form throughout these (mostly) small group sessions, but his comrades in cool include Nat King Cole, Chico Hamilton, and Helen Humes. Jazz saxophone may've changed but it never evolved past Young...his jazz blueprints just can't be improved on.
