What would you get if you crossed electronic cuddlecore dreamers the Postal Service with the glossy pop of Hilary Duff? Something very much like LIGHTS' debut album, The Listening. The Ontario-based daughter of missionaries is a little like Avril for the electronic set, translating subcultural influences -- in this case, blippy synth-pop and synth-nerd beats -- for an unsuspecting public. Chiming keyboards and skittering rhythms provide the backing for earnest, confessional vocals, with every sound polished to a shine.
