Incarcerated by Lil Boosie
Released: Sep 2010
Label: Asylum/Trill Entertainment
Incarcerated joins the rap tradition of pre-incarceration "farewell albums." Lil Boosie, who is not only serving a four-year bid for gun possession but was also indicted for first-degree murder, admits "My daddy raised me to hate a cop." He thanks God on the sentimental "Long Journey," stating "You kept them devils away from us." Lil Boosie claims that he's like the late Tupac Shakur, but Incarcerated is too grimy and D-boy tough to approach Tupac's mass appeal. "Cartoon," where he flips Saturday-morning metaphors after "sittin' on double stacks," offers a few minutes of levity.
