Los Amigos Invisibles are a welcome breath of irreverent air from a country currently steeped in earnestness. This 2006 release reimagines hit Venezuelan pop songs from the 1970s and '80s -- which undoubtedly has made them even more beloved in their home country -- but fortunately, it's more than just an exercise in nostalgia. Los Amigos bring their trademark campy, sexed-up/chilled-out vibe to bear, though the tongue-in-cheek treatment often vaporizes under the sheer pop genius of many of the songs.
