It's not a perfect album, but los Bunkers nuevo-garage rock stylings have more melodies, hooks and plain jump than many of their northern contemporaries. Comparisons to the Strokes and Franz Ferdinand abound, but why damn with faint praise? These guys got their retro stylings from the source: they cite the Association, the Zombies and the Kinks as inspirations, and for all their vintage pretensions, they lack some of the self-conscious coolness of the bands they're compared to.
