Tin Can Trust is Los Lobos' first album of new material in four years. The most important thing that happened in the interval was the United States plunging even deeper into financial crisis. As a result, hard times, no cash and more hard times are the album's overarching themes. So yeah, this isn't peppy Chicano rock laced with squawking button accordions. This is urban American folk-rock staring down the barrel of a gun called societal decline, chronicling what it sees. For all you Latin Playboys fanatics, the track "Jupiter or the Moon" will smash your noggins into dust.
